Our Family

I want to speak about two profound and interconnected themes: sacrifice and the love of family and fraternity. Sacrifice is often the silent pillar upon which strong families and enduring fraternal bonds are built. In our families, parents sacrifice their time, energy, and resources to nurture and provide for their children, creating a foundation of security and love. Similarly, within our fraternal organizations, we find brothers and sisters willing to go the extra mile, putting the needs of the group above their own, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. It is through these selfless acts that we truly understand the depths of love and commitment.

The love of family and fraternity is not just an emotion but a guiding principle that shapes our actions and decisions. Family teaches us our first lessons in unconditional love, while fraternity extends this love beyond the boundaries of blood, creating a broader community of care and mutual respect. These bonds remind us that we are never alone, that there is always someone willing to stand by us in times of need, and that our sacrifices are meaningful and valued. As we reflect on these themes, let us be inspired to cherish and strengthen our familial and fraternal relationships, knowing that through sacrifice and love, we build a better, more connected world.

The Lodge was granted a charter from the Grand Lodge of Texas on January 15, 1848 and is now honored by a plaque on the south wall of the long barracks were it was founded.
