Travel On

Many are the roads that I have traveled alone,
some spiritual, some moral, and some of stone. Many are the times I have been a stranger amongst men, seemingly no one around that I could call friend. Many are the ways that I have fought as an army of one, with blood sweat and tears my labors are done. Many are the lessons that I have learned on my own, with no tools to work with, learning the hard way is how I have grown. Many are the days that have turned to night, with no master to guide me or assure that all will be right. Many are the years that have passed me by, with a hollow unfulfilled feeling inside. What a wondrous thing happens when you are brought to light. Your eyes are opened with all of your brothers in sight. You are no longer alone, you are no longer a stranger, You now have brothers, so travel on, and fear no danger!

A.F. & A.M.

Alamo Lodge No. 44 is the first and oldest Masonic Lodge in the City of San Antonio (Bexar County) and has a rich and unique history due to having been founded in the historic Alamo, the Shrine of Texas Liberty. The Lodge was granted a charter from the Grand Lodge of Texas on January 15, 1848 and is now honored by a plaque on the south wall of the long barracks were it was founded.
